"I call my studio Nga Roimata o nga Tupuna to describe the pleasure that I feel in a sudden downpour of rain. The Maori language poetically describes roimata (tears falling) from the tupuna (ancestors) as providing comfort and support.
I remember the laughter and camaraderie in Pakistan during a monsoon shower and the excitement generated in the West End of London as people scurried around under a cloudburst and the black taxis multiplied and splashed the streets."
